Laurence Boulle

Laurence Boulle is Director of Independent Mediation Services (Pty) Ltd and has worked as a mediator throughout Australia and abroad. He is an accredited mediator under Australia’s National Mediator Accreditation System and is on the panel of ICSID conciliators for foreign investment disputes.

Laurence is currently theDirector of the Mediator Standards Board in Australia, which he chaired for three years. In 2015 he was appointed first Fellow of the Australian Dispute Resolution Association. He is the former Chairmanof the National ADR Advisory Council in Australia, a part-time member of the Native Title Tribunal and member of the Law Council of Australia’s ADR committee.

He is currently Professor of Law at the Thomas More Law School, Sydney, and Adjunct Professor at Bond University, Queensland, and the University of South Pacific, Vanuatu. He was formerly Professor of Law at Bond University, where he founded the Dispute Resolution Centre, and Issy Wolfson Professor of Law and Director of the Mandela Institute at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, where he is still an honorary professor.

Laurence has taught dispute resolution, negotiation and mediation for two decades at institutions in Asia, the Pacific, Australasia, Africa and Europe, and his books on the topics have been published in several countries, including Canada, the UK, Singapore, the US, New Zealand and Australia.
