the 4th Asian Mediation Association Conference

Distinguished Guests,

On behalf of the Asian Mediation Association, I would like to extend my warm welcome to all the delegates attending the 4^th Asian Mediation Association Conference.

Mediation is one of the most important diversified dispute resolution approaches which plays a significant role in the dispute resolution not only in Asia but also in other countries in the world.

The objective of the Asian Mediation Association is to promote the use and development of mediation in Asia and the rest of the world through strengthening members’ cooperation and association.

The theme of the 4th AMA Conference is “New Global Trend of Mediation—Similarities and Differences”. All delegates can take this opportunity to explore the similarities and differences of mediation from a global perspective.

In the two-day conference, discussion topics will mainly cover the reform of diversified dispute resolution mechanism, the comparison on lawyer’s mediation mechanism between China and western countries, the differences in people’s mediation or community mediation between eastern and western contexts, the respective roles of mediation and arbitration in the settlement of foreign commercial disputes, the international trend of on-line dispute resolution, the cultural differences and mediation techniques between Asia and western countries.

So I do believe that the two-day Conference will be an excellent platform for all of you to exchange knowledge and share invaluable experience, to promote and facilitate the use of mediation to settle disputes amicably.

I am confident that all distinguished speakers from China, Hong Kong SAR, Singapore, the U.K. and even the rest of the world will make the conference fruitful and meaningful.
